Featured Handmade Artist- CaffeinatedFrenzy
Hello!! Welcome to another edition of Featured Handmade Artist! This week, I am pleased to introduce you to Kelsey from CaffeinatedFrenzy! I love love love her knitted creations-- especially this super adorable knitted frog... Check out some of her other fun knitted products...
Hi Kelsey!!! Please tell us a little about yourself.
I'm Kelsey, born and raised in Cleveland, OH. If I had it my way I'd do nothing but drink coffee and knit all day (which I do, whenever given the chance!).
How long have you been creating?
I taught myself to knit around ten, but it was an off and on kind of thing. In college, I found a little boutique that sold artisans' work, and discovered I could support my yarn habit by selling my finished products. I've been clicking away since then!
What is the inspiration behind your pieces?
The yarn itself, a person, it varies. Sometimes I see a tree outside and it leads me to create a new design.
How long have you been creating?
I started on Etsy in 2008.
what is your dream job?
Owner of a fiber arts gallery / coffee shop
Please describe your creative process
1. Drink coffee. 2. Cast on. 3. Rip out, rethink everything. 4. Cast on, knit half a project. 5. Rip out, rethink, make another pot of coffee. 6. Start again with something entirely different.
What item would you be secretly heartbroken if it sold?
I'll admit, I'm insanely attached to the Silver Lining Scarf I'd be thrilled if it sold, but the hours spent on beading . . . I hope someone appreciates it! :)
What are the ways you promote your work?
Social networking sites are the key for me, but also word of mouth is something you can't beat. Tell people that will tell people. If your work is wearable, keep something for yourself and then have business cards on hand for when people comment. Leave stacks of business cards, post cards, etc. anywhere you can find.
What are some of your favorite books, movies, musicians, and websites?
Right now I'm reading The Imperfectionists and loving it. I listen to a lot of Tom Waits. I usually blast last.fm and let it play new artists that I'm not familiar with when I'm knitting.
I live on Ravelry and Etsy (of course!).
Tell us a little secret.
Then it wouldn't be a secret! :)
Thank you so much Kelsey! After reading your interview, I think you're my long lost caffeinated twin or something! :D
I hope everyone takes a moment or two to browse thru CaffeinatedFrenzy's etsy shop!
